Titanium Hydride (TiH2) Micron Powder

Titanium Hydride (TiH2) Micron Powder

Titanium hydride (TiH2) is a chemical compound of titanium and hydrogen, a hydride. Its melting point is nearly 400 ℃ and has a density of 3.76 g/cm3. It is commercially available as a stable grey/black powder. Titanium hydride is a chemical compound of titanium and hydrogen, which is brittle and, in powder form, highly reactive when exposed to heat or strong oxidizers. TiH2 can exist in two allotropic forms, depending on the temperature and pressure: tetragonal and cubic, with the tetragonal form being the room temperature phase. Titanium hydride powders possess unique combination of high strength, relatively low density, and good corrosion resistance which makes them very attractive for many structural purposes. Metallurgical and chemical uses of titanium hydride include: a source of pure hydrogen for foaming metals, deoxidizing agent for the absorption of carbon in powder metallurgy and the production of titanium alloys and semi-finished sintered articles. Owing to its high reactivity, titanium hydride powder has found application in pyrotechnics, initiator squibs and igniters.
