Terbium Oxide Micron Powder

Terbium oxide, also called tetraterbium heptaoxide, has the chemical formula Tb₄O₇ .It has of 7.3 g/cm³, and its melting point is nearly 2410℃. Terbium oxide is also known as diterbium trioxide and tetraterbium heptaoxide. Terbium belongs to Block F, Period 6 and oxygen belongs to the Block P, Period 2 in the periodic table. Terbium oxide micron powders are produced by heating the metal oxalate, and they are used in the preparation of other terbium compounds. Tb₄O₇ powders have been used as precursors for the synthesis of lanthanide nanophosphors and superconductor materials. In addition, Tb₄O₇ can be used as analytical reagents for food analysis. Similar to other rare earth oxides, terbium oxide also provides interesting magnetic and optical properties. These properties of Tb₄O₇ are utilized in magneto-optical glasses and magneto-optical recording materials. Another important aspect of Tb₄O₇ is its catalytic activity. It is found to be effective for catalytic applications in automobile exhaust converter and oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane.
