Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) Nanoparticles
Molybdenum disulfide nanoparticles are categorized among the newly emerging and promising two dimensional materials as nanosheets and nanoparticles because of their specifically different biological, physical, chemical, electrical and mechanical properties. Molybdenum disulfide nanoparticles have found extensive applications as in biomedicine, catalysis, electronics and energy generation. They are also expected to rise as agent to environmental applications as well. There have been several methods to isolate molybdenum disulfide monolayers form their bulky form and functionalize and describe the properties. In general, molybdenum disulfide nanoparticles can be synthesized using the pulse laser ablation in water and hydrothermal method. The resulting nanoparticles can be employed in polymeric materials degradation and used as gas sensors in cars as well as anodes in Li-ion batteries. Molybdenum disulfide nanoparticles have been demonstrated to improve the microbiological property in plants. Moreover, they show unique electronic and catalytic behavior with potential applications in chemical synthesis of different materials and as refining agent in crude oil refinery industry.
