Barium Iron Oxide (BaFe12O19) Nanoparticles
Barium iron oxide nanoparticles are m-type barium ferrite that adopt a hexagonal molecular structure and are known for their permanent high-performance magnetic nature. Moreover, crystals with pretty large magneto-crystalline anisotropy have high curie temperature and relatively large magnetization, corrosion resistance and excellent chemical stability. They are originally suitable for microwave-absorption purposes as barium iron oxide nanoparticles have a planar anisotropic property and a considerable value of permeability. Barium iron oxide nanoparticles are synthesized taking the advantage of nonconventional methods such as the glass crystallization method and hydrothermal technique. The preparation based on the reverse micelle technique, as a common method, is done using a surfactant known as cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) and cyclohexane as the solvent. They have applications in ultrafine ferrite particles preparation with truly high qualities and in flame retardant, fiber textile, coatings and plastics. In addition to this, barium iron oxide nanoparticles have been employed in some alloys and even in catalytic reactions.
